As a former Newtown Resident, I can tell you I am rocked again today. I know children who survived the Sandy Hook school shooting personally, loved ones who lost their beloved babies, and an entire town still healing and grieving from the events on December 14, 2012. The hope then was that it would be the high watermark. That change could happen. Ten years later, and it hasn’t happened yet. We feel it deeply. I grieve for the children and educators lost in Texas. My heart to ALL who have lost loved ones to gun violence in all ways. My support and love to all the teachers and children bravely stepping back into the educational space today. To my 4th grader who I hugged a little tighter today, although I hug him tight on all days. To my daughter who is holding up high schoolers as a counselor herself, and trying to support their mental health. May we find a path to heal this larger problem of gun violence. May we find ways to agree on a change, for the sake of our children.
