Bio:

G YAMAZAWA is a Japanese-American MC, poet, and teaching artist born and raised in Durham, North Carolina. A National Poetry Slam Champion and Kundiman Fellow, G has toured over 200 universities including Princeton, Dartmouth, and NYU-Abu Dhabi. Since transitioning into music full-time, G has garnered over 7 million views across Facebook and YouTube, and over 5 million streams on Spotify. His single “North Cack” peaked at #3 on Spotify’s Viral 50 chart powered by Billboard, and his debut album “Shouts to Durham” independently charted at #34 on iTunes Top 100 Rap Albums.

Program Descriptions

-60 minute spoken word set and/or 30 minute rap set. Topics range from cultural identity, the immigrant narrative, hip hop/creative expression, to peace and social justice.

-Beginner/Intermediate writing and performance workshops for all age groups, mainly focused on poetry, hip hop, storytelling, and identity.
